Comparison of modalities in SLI syntax: A study on the comprehension and production of non-canonical sentences
نویسندگان
چکیده
This study is a linguistic investigation of four preschool-aged Italian children with SLI (4:5–5:9), using more than one linguistic modality, with the aim of analyzing their performance with relative clauses (subject and object relatives). Linguistic abilities in comprehension and production do not overlap in children with SLI and in typical developing children, revealing characteristics related to distinctions between the modalities as well as certain properties of language impairment. While comprehension by children with SLI is comparable to age-matched peers, their production shows a wider range of variation, providing a useful source with which to evaluate syntactic competence. Typically developing children adopt many different strategies to avoid the more complex, object relative clauses. Children with SLI, however, do not and are unable to construct any kind of relative clause. 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. * Corresponding author. E-mail addresses: [email protected] (C. متن کاملThe effect of canonical word order on the production and comprehension of pseudoclefts in L2
This study investigated the effect of word order and age on the production and comprehension of pseudoclefts in L2 across two experiments. For each experiment 16 female students aged between 179 and 210 months were recruited from a secondary school. These students were divided into two groups based on their age range; one group for investigating the effect of word order and age on the productio...

There is controversy about where music, composition, or the perception of language and music are in the brain, or wheth...
